Is hazel eyes common in south indians?

im south indian (my grandparents and parents from kerala) and i have hazel eyes -- yellowy, brownish and green rim. my mom also has them, and one of my grandparents does too. i dont look like any other malayali's in my area.. they're much darker and have coarser hair. i have very soft almost dark brown hair and high cheek bones and light brown skin basically olive toned. can anybody tell me what this means? lol
