If you are talking evolution vrs creationism, it was the Christians who declared that Darwin said we evolved from monkeys not Darwin himself. Evolution has to do with how someone or something adapts (or doesn't) to the changing environment, not that someone came from chimps. Even Darwin was surprised at their interpretation of his work.
